Though their name and winery may seem new to Dry Creek Valley visitors, Jason and Noelle Passalacqua actually represent the fourth generation in a family tree dotted with grape growers and vintners. Jason’s great-grandfather Francesco, an Italian immigrant, began the Passalacqua tradition
in the early 1900s when he owned and operated Fitch Mountain Winery, one of Healdsburg’s earliest wineries. After his passing and the loss of the winery in a fire, his widow Rachel purchased the Oliveto Winery just up the road and willed it to their daughter Edith. By the 1940s, Edith had reopened this winery under the Passalacqua banner, a milestone honored today with a picture of Edith’s original label on every bottle of Passalacqua wine.

Winemaking tradition also weaves through Noelle’s family history, having traveled from Southern France to California with her paternal great-grandfather, Jean Oscamou, in 1912. Jean, who settled in the Santa Clara Valley, was a home vintner who made wine for the Jesuit community at Jason and Noelle’s alma mater, Santa Clara University.

Drawing on their forebears’ experience and a desire to create the best in handcrafted wines, Jason and Noelle now produce small lots of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, with the Cabernet grapes coming from the vineyards of Jason’s parents, Dry Creek Valley growers Tom and Sandi Passalacqua.

All grapes for Passalacqua wines are selected from choice regional vineyards and aged in the finest oak barrels to assure wines of elegance and distinction. “Our family tradition has really set the standard for delivering the highest quality wines through select harvests and greater attention to detail in the winemaking process,” says Jason. “We’re proud to share that tradition with guests and visitors to Dry Creek Valley.”
